As soon as I went the way from the Swamp teleporter, I found out that the age to the cave was still blocked by a gray stone, which is removed using a green contraption floating nearby. And as soon as I removed this gray stone, I immediately got the second part of the quest! Apparently, it is important to go this way, and not otherwise. Without removing that stone, the second part of the quest does not start on the second or third real day.
