From the guide you will learn how to start an affair with Karlach in Baldur's Gate 3. Let's imagine the location of the barbarian on the map and tell you what actions will lead to watching all the romantic and sex scenes with companion.

Where to find Karlach

Location Karlach is an area enclosed by rocks (X: 109, Y: 510), running across the river, not far from the locations “Extinct Village” and “Emerging Road”.

The approximate location of the tiefling will become known after a dialogue with the sorcerer Will in the Emerald Grove: having received a satellite mission "Blade of the Frontier", proceed to the first goal of the task - track down Karlach.

Move towards the Extinct Village. Exit through the northern gate, go around the barn, inside of which Buthir and Grukkoh are having fun, and get to the destroyed bridge. Soon you will come across gnolls (X: 22, Y: 527) - evil, monstrous humanoids, descendants from the corpses of dead hyenas. After killing them, you can go down to the lower level, to the river, where you will meet the “demonic” barbarian.

Meeting with Karlach

Start a dialogue during which you select the following answer options to recruit Karlach into the squad:

  • “You are the devil we are hunting for. Karlach, right?
  • “Put your weapon down, Will. You saw what I saw."
  • “Gods, where do you get so much stubbornness from? Karlach is not the devil, and you know it.”
  • "I - [character `s name].
  • "Let's send them back to where they came from."
  • “I like it, great plan.”

This will update the "Blade of the Frontier" quest. In addition, the magazine will feature a new satellite mission, “Our Fiery Friend,” during which it is necessary to save Karlach. The first goal is to deal with the paladins of Tyr.

How to save Karlach in Baldur's Gate 3

Having invited Karlach to your squad, go in search of the paladins of Tyr. From the place where you met your companion, go up one level and go to stone shack, the entrance to which is littered with corpses.

Unlock the wooden door and go inside: a dialogue will begin with Anders, who will subsequently be exposed by the tiefling girl. The Paladin of Tyr is not what he seems to be: in reality, he and his minions are servants of the archdevil Zariel.

Carry out the will of Karlakh - kill the girl’s pursuers. As a reward for killing them, you will receive the following items:

  • unusual “Blade of Justice” (4-14 damage);

  • rebirth scroll (x3);
  • scroll of the spell “Melf’s Acid Arrow” (x1).

After allowing your companion to let off steam, wait until she stops running around the shack and only then begin a dialogue. The girl will tell you that instead of a heart, there is a “burning” in her chest hell of a motor. The fact that the device “flares up” is an unpleasant phenomenon that needs to be eliminated. The next goal is to find a hell of a mechanic who can adjust the propulsion. Starting the mission "Emerald Grove"to get closer to saving Karlach.

For more information on how to save Karlach in BG3, read the paragraph «Relationship with Karlach in the third act", where we looked at the main endings with the tiefling girl, in which she remains alive.

How to romance Karlach in Baldur's Gate 3

The romantic relationship with Karlach develops gradually. Additional dialogues and unique cutscenes are influenced by two factors:

  1. Progress through the main story campaign. If you are faced with the fact that the character stops showing initiative towards the protagonist during the Long Rest, complete several main missions and part of the companion's mission objectives.
  2. Approval Level. As you explore the world and complete various missions, the need for a minimum "Approval" score increases. In order to see some cut scenes, you will have to perform those actions that your companion likes.
Important: if you act on the side goblins in the war for the Emerald Grove and kill all the tieflings, as well as the druids, Karlach will leave the protagonist forever.

How to increase Karlach's approval

Karlach is a companion with a strong personality, who has her own difficult past. She is brave, principled, fair, kind-hearted and sincere. Traveling with a tiefling girl across the open world, you can witness how she talks about many things. In addition, from time to time, the warrior speaks out on the actions and actions of the main character, condemning the decisions he has made or, on the contrary, approving them.

What Karlach approves of

In order to build a strong romance with Karlach in BG3, it is important:

  • Treat children kindly - be childish and/or play with them, if this is permissible;
  • Treat animals kindly - get a special advantage if you can tame baby bear's cub;
  • Respond to requests for help — the main “plus” will be the complete completion of such story missions as “Save the Refugees” and mintaru;
  • Show comion towards tieflings “Karlach is a tiefling herself, and her people are oppressed by many races due to the fact that they supposedly bring troubles and misfortunes;
  • Protect the weak — an infinitely kind and fair barbarian does not tolerate causeless anger, especially if it is directed at weaker creatures who are unable to defend themselves with their own strength.

What Karlach does not approve of

The following actions, on the contrary, will push Karlach away from the protagonist:

  • Cowardice — show courage in situations where it is necessary, under no circumstances run away from the battlefield and always adequately repel the enemy, otherwise you will have to be content with a low level of relations with the tiefling;
  • Goblin and Absolute politics - as already mentioned, any attempts to go against the druids and tieflings may end in failure (Karlach, along with Will and Halsin, may leave the squad forever);
  • Being cruel to the weak and needy - Karlach will not leave the protagonist if he begins to show cruelty to those who need help, however, she may demonstrate hostility towards the main character and his ruthlessness, since such behavior is unusual for her nature.

If you adhere to the above recommendations, that is, always act on the side of “good”, as well as show mercy and fortitude, you can improve your relationship with Karlach in the shortest possible time and, therefore, enjoy most of the romantic and bed scenes with the girl.

Relationship with Karlach in the first act

Once you recruit Karlach and gain access to the companion mission "Hell's Heart", find Dammon in the territory of the emerald grove and, after discussing the problem of the tiefling girl with him, bring hellish iron to cool down your companion for a while. Then, raise your companion's Approval gauge to Good/Excellent. As soon as this happens, use the “Long Rest” function and get comfortable on the couch: after a while, the “hot” barbarian will decide to visit her dear ally. While talking to her, select the following lines:

  • “You don’t need to ask me twice. Let's go."
  • “Maybe just one kiss?”
  • “We're fast. One little kiss and that’s it.”
  • “Kiss her harder. Your ion is hotter than her flame."
  • “It stung a little, but it was worth it.”

As a result, the protagonist will not be able to resist Karlach's heat, and the agitated girl will suspend close intimacy.

Baldur's Gate 3 - Act 1 Go To Bed: Paladin Kisses Karlach Singes His Lips "We Could Read a Book"

If you didn’t manage to enjoy the cut-scene during the main and side quests of the first act, it will appear during the refugee festival and thereby mark the “beginning” of the romance with Karlach.

The second significant scene that can bring the barbarian and the main character closer together is random: Also occurs during The Long Rest and can be triggered by dialogue - talk to the girl when you see the "exclamation mark" above her head. The conversation will begin with the phrase: “Hey, soldier! You said you'd try to cool me down. Any ideas? - after hearing it, do the following:

  1. Answer the question with a response: "Hmm... Let me try something.".
  2. Then, either pour water on Karlakh from a regular bottle, or use the spell “Ice Beam” (Evocation Focus), “Ice Knife” (School of Incarnation) or “Create Water” (School of Transmutation) against her.

Despite the fact that the characters will not be able to fully touch their lips, this scene will leave pleasant memories and will slightly improve the relationship with your companion.

Baldur's Gate 3 - Camp: My Paladin Throws Water On Karlach and Kisses Her "I Don't Mind Sharing"

Replies during the scene will also not have any consequences. The only thing is to choose phrases with an emphasis on flirting, be friendly to Karl and let the girl understand that she is really dear, even despite the problems associated with the infernal mover.

If both cut scenes were watched before saving the refugees and killing all the goblins, then the only correct option for the novel during the refugee festival is spend the night thinking about Karl.

Other actions may be regarded as betrayal of your partner, which may negatively affect the development of further relationships.

Relationship with Karlach in the second act

As soon as you reach the territories "Moon Towers" and get to the Last Light tavern, find Dammon again and give the blacksmith another batch of hellish iron. This will result in Karlach being able to touch others again. The protagonist himself will be the first to convince himself of this through a light kiss or a tight hug.

Once you've finished watching the touching moment, use the Long Rest feature to approach Karlach's sex scene. Start a dialogue with a tiefling girl - the most preferred options for dialogue are:

  • "How do you feel?"
  • “Believe me, I can control myself quite well. And you."
  • "Forward".
  • "I belong to you, Karlach."
  • “And I’m still wondering when you’ll propose.”
ROMANCE WITH KARLAH #baldursgate3 #romance

If a sex scene with a barbarian is not a priority, and your heart desires a slower development of the relationship, you can give preference to the line: “I like you, Karlach, but I don’t think I want to sleep with you.”. This phrase will not repel the girl and will offer a choice of more restrained answer options.

If you stopped at the replica “And I’m still wondering when you’ll propose”, the next morning after a night together you will be able to enjoy a sincere declaration of love from a “demonic” tiefling. Having awakened from sleep, approach your companion, above whom the “exclamation mark” hangs, and interact with her. During the dialogue, give preference to the following phrases:

  • "Good morning, early bird."
  • “I was over the moon to be able to touch you last night. Hug you, kiss you, and..."
  • "Much more than just 'like'."
  • Deception [CS 7]: “No, nothing terrible will ever happen to us again.”
  • "I love you".
Karlah confesses his love after sex.

Thus, the relationship with Karlach will be significantly strengthened, and the further development of the novel will move on to the third act of the main story campaign.

Relationship with Karlach in the third act

The first romantic scene of the third act can unfold when meeting the dryad Zetkhino at the circus. When a woman asks about the protagonist's crush, you must:

  1. Answer the question with a reply: “Yes, I have love - and, by the way, we are quite close”.
  2. To the offer “May your love appear before me with you,” pay 100 gold coins and say: “This might be interesting, Karlach. What do you think about it?".

The companion will agree to undergo a relationship test. The heroes will move to a completely different world, where they will be separated by a river and a “ringing” waterfall.

Every correct answer to a question is an opportunity to take a step towards your beloved. The following phrases, in turn, will be considered the correct answers to the dryad’s questions:

  • "Gortash."
  • "Killing enemies and having a victorious night together."
  • “Settle in a quiet village with your loved one and children.”

The second significant scene, along with other unique moments, is random: Just like the others, it takes place during the Long Rest and can be triggered by dialogue. As soon as the companion appears above his head "Exclamation point", talk to her. The girl will offer the protagonist privacy during a night walk around the city. The date will unfold on the territory of a cozy restaurant, where Karlach will surround his lover with compliments, ion and sincerity.

The lines chosen during the dialogue will not have a serious impact on the night together. The only point that needs to be taken into is that when the barbarian asks the protagonist to go upstairs, answer: "After you".

Thus, another full-fledged sex scene with Karlach will be presented.

The last bright manifestation of love between the protagonist and the tiefling will unfold in the final part of the main story campaign, when the city is saved and the main characters of the story remain alive. Ultimately, the infernal mover Karlach will fail, and the girl will begin to slowly die before her eyes. The only salvation is to return to Averno.

There are several endings to choose from with Karlach, in which the girl remains alive:

  1. “Karlach, my love... I can’t watch you die. Will... I'll go with her. I should be with her", - the protagonist and Karlach will move to Averno. The infernal mover will “cool down”, ceasing to hurt the girl and thereby killing her from the inside. The further fate of the lovers is to work together to resist Zariel and the demons.
  2. “Stop it, Karlach. The three of us will build a new life in Averno. Together", — the ending is identical to the one discussed above, but Will will the company of lovers: having forever renounced the title of “Blade of the Frontier,” he will receive a new title — “Blade of Averno.”
  3. “Go, Karlach. Will will be with you - you won't be alone anymore.", - the protagonist will remain in “his” world, and Will and Karlach will teleport to Averno.

Is it possible to romance Karlach and Shadowheart?

Simultaneous relationships with Karlach and Shadowheart are also provided for in the game, but it is important to understand that in the end, neither girl will want to put up with competition for the heart of her lover. Sooner or later, you will have to make a choice in favor of one companion, but until then we suggest that you adhere to the following conditions.

The first act

  • Find Karlakh and invite her to the squad before Shadowheart's recruitment. As soon as you complete the task “Escape from the Nautiloid” and find yourself in the “Crash Site” location, look for the barbarian near the emerging road. In addition, proceed with the satellite mission "Our Fiery Friend": Kill the paladins of Tyr, find hellish iron and give it to the blacksmith Domman in the Emerald Grove.
  • Once you've dealt with the condition above, recruit Shadowheart.
  • Complete side missions and explore the areas of the first act until you reach the scene with the first kiss between the protagonist and Karlach. Sharing a night with a tiefling must happen before refugee holiday.
  • At the same time, continue to develop your relationship with Shadowheart: while completing the missions of the first act, gradually “close” the objectives of the companion’s task - find out that she worships Shar, approve of her faith, try to get to know her better, get “Approval” points, and without conflicting with Karlach's worldview.
  • During the refugee festival, talk to Karlach (choose lines containing coquetry/flirting). In addition, also interact with Shadowheart: agree to spend time together and, ultimately, go on a solitary walk with the priestess.

Thus, at the time of completing the first act of the game, you will record the beginning of a relationship with both Shadowheart and Karlach.

The second act

  • Once on the territory of the Last Light tavern, find the blacksmith and again give him the infernal iron so that he can “patch up” the Karlach mover. Check the work of the master, kissing the tiefling, - even if Shadowheart is in the squad, she will not react to the scene.
  • Take advantage of the Long Rest feature. During the dialogue with the barbarian, select the following lines: "I belong to you, Karlach" и “And I’m still wondering when you’ll propose”. Thus, spend the night together with Karlach. In the morning, confess your love to the girl.

From this point on, any attempts to talk to Shar's follower will present the protagonist with a choice - either she or Karlach. In order to avoid unwanted decisions, interact with the priestess only at the moments when an “exclamation mark” appears above her head.

Before each “significant” dialogue with Shadowheart, it is recommended to save.

Continue along the storyline of the second act. Arriving at the temple Song of the Night. Convince Shadowheart to spare Eileen's life and thereby renounce the goddess.

3 Act. Relationship with Karlach + Shadowheart. Baldur's Gate 3.

As a result, the priestess will stop presenting the protagonist with a choice - she will seem to forget that the main character is simultaneously building a romantic relationship with another companion. This will open up the opportunity to talk with your companion on third-party topics, as well as “choose” additional answer options in dialogues that lead to love scenes.

Information collected based on edits Hotfix # 6, which were added to the game on September 7, 2023.

Who is Karlakh jealous of and what will happen if he cheats on her?

Karlakh can be called a “monogamist”: if you start an affair with a girl, she will give herself completely to the relationship and will expect the same from her partner. The barbarian will meet any disrespect for herself, namely, betrayal, with a dramatic scene of separation and a fair phrase:

“...those who love you are not toys. You can’t throw them away first and then pick them up again when you suddenly get bored. I would ask you to explain yourself, but you have no idea what you really want. I hope you figure it out before you hurt anyone else."

Jealousy of Karlah. Baldur's Gate 3.

Shadowheart

Shadowheart

Shadowheart is a follower of Shar who is reserved and mysterious. In the first stages of relationship development, she shows coldness, but is not ready to put up with competition when it comes to her lover’s heart. Even despite the fact that the game provides the possibility of romance with both Shadowheart and Karlach, ultimately the protagonist is faced with a choice - either a priestess or a tiefling barbarian.

Wyll

Wyll

Will is a sorcerer entitled "Blade of the Frontier". Identical to Shadowheart, he is restrained in expressing feelings and emotions in the first stages of relationship development. Also, like many constant companions, he is monogamous, that is, he is faithful to one partner and will not “share” his lover’s heart with other companions.

Astarion

Astarion

Astarion is a vampire rogue. Despite his outward frivolity, in reality he is a sensitive and vulnerable young man who will not tolerate betrayal. Developing relationships with both Astarion and Karlach is impossible in one playthrough: one way or another, you will have to make a choice in favor of one of the companions.

Gale

Gale

Gale is a skilled wizard who is forced to consume magical artifacts in order to survive. Similar to other companions, he is revealed as a love interest only if you develop a romance only with him.

Lae’zel

Lae’zel

Laezel is a fierce Githyanki warrior. During the first act of the main story campaign, I am ready to put up with the fact that the protagonist shows attention to other companions. However, later it either forces the main character to make a choice or automatically transfers him to “friend zone” status.

Minthara

Minthara

Mintara is the leader of the goblins and a loyal follower of the Absolute, who can be recruited into the squad while exploring the Lunar Towers location - thus becoming a constant companion.

Due to the fact that this opportunity appears only at the time of the second act of the story campaign, when the relationship with Karlach can reach its “peak”, the simultaneous development of the romance with Mintara comes into question.

The information needs further verification.

Halsin

Halsin

Halsin, identical to Mintara, is revealed as a love interest after completing most of the story missions in the second act. In relationships he adheres to polygamous views, directly telling the main character that he is ready to spend the night with him and his partner if desired.

Despite the fact that Karlach will refuse to take part in this piquant undertaking, she will not interfere with her lover’s desires and will agree to spend the night together with the druid. Consequently, a romantic scene with Halsin will not be considered treason, and the romance with the barbarian will continue.

MMFF relationships where the second M is Bear. Polygamy in Baldur's Gate 3. Shadowheart & Karlach & Halsin.

Mizora

Mizora is a half-devil bound by a contract to Will. An old friend of Karlach, who ordered the Frontier Blade to get rid of the one-horned tiefling. A bed scene with her will greatly shake the trust of her lover.

Karlach reaction after s*x with Mizora

Twins Drow

Nim and Sorn Orlis, like Halsin, are ready to accompany the protagonist and his partner if the latter agrees. Despite the fact that Karlach will refuse to take part in this piquant undertaking, she will not interfere with her lover’s desires and agrees to spend the night with the drow twins.

The Emperor

A romantic night with the Emperor is not perceived negatively by companions and a companion with whom the protagonist is in a serious relationship. This fact probably also applies to the affair with Karlach.

The information needs further verification.

Karlach and the Dark Seduction

Dark Seduction is a character with a special type of origin, whose story can be developed if you start the main campaign in his guise. The uniqueness of the hero is that he is greedy for “bloody” actions: the darkness lurking in the depths of his subconscious forces him to kill loved ones, relatives, and innocents. In particular, hidden power can provoke the Dark Seduction to kill Karlach if the order to get rid of Isobel was ignored in the Last Light tavern.

To avoid a bloody scene with a barbarian, you must:

  • the test for "Wisdom» [KS 14] and thereby try to wake up the beloved;
  • another test for "Wisdom"[DC 18] when the character's hands are tied and he begins to literally fight with his inner self.
The Dark Urge Kills His Lover Karlach vs Resist Killing Karlach - Baldur's Gate 3 All Reactions

Subsequently, during the age of the third act, Dark Seduction will have an additional scene, during which the hero will be able to free himself from his bloodthirsty essence. This will cause significant “Approval” from Karlach, as a constant companion and faithful lover.

I have a question: if I didn’t develop a relationship with Karl in the first two acts, my relationship scale is at the maximum, but I didn’t see any scenes and messed with Wil. And now he decided to finish all the business because of the scene with Mizora, and I became interested in romancing Karlach, because my original goal was Shadowheart, well, it’s too unclear how to romance him and so on.
