Krukabena really took him under her wing, but she treated the guy cruelly and took advantage of his ignorance about the situation with his mother.
Crucabena's grave
A year after Peruer kills Clairvey, she goes to Krukabena to stop the Harbinger's tyranny. During the battle, Harlequin uses the power of his curse and the Eye of God, thanks to which he defeats the current Servant. The queen forgives her for killing her mother and gives her a new name, as well as a place among Fatui.
Crucabena's tomb was made by Arlecchino herself and is located on the Eastern slope of Mont Esus in Fontaine. The monument is the entrance to the dungeon Scattered ruins, and on the tombstone it is written: “The light of the setting sun is buried here. Here they greet the sun of a new day.”
Crookabena in mythology
Ceridwena or Krukabena in mythology is a witch who lives in the middle of a lake, and her name means “crescent moon”. According to the History of Taliesin, she has a beautiful daughter, Clairvy, as well as an ugly son, Avagddu. Crucaben is not mentioned in the Commedia dell'Arte, from which the names and titles of the famous Harbingers of Fatui are taken. This may mean that Krukabena is the woman's real name.

It’s not entirely clear: Krukabena organized fights among orphans only in the Hearth house in Fontaine? According to the meaning of the story, the children had only three options: 1) die in a duel 2) go to Dottore’s experiments 3) go on a suicide mission in the name of the Queen. Lyudochka from Inazuma does not fit into any category, it seems to me. So she wasn't from Fontaine Hearth House? Then why were only the Fontaine orphans vying to be the next "Mother"? Did they gather the best of the best in Fontaine?
