Fox's Den in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 — the twenty-second story quest in which Henry sneaks into Sigismund's camp. Prove to the Prague commander that you are trustworthy by obtaining the lost charter for him. Investigate the case and find enough evidence to find out who killed Certan.
In the guide we will show where to find the missing soldiers in the quest Fox's Lair and how to take the letter from them. Between the objectives of the main quest, several time-limited secondary missions become available, so we will additionally analyze how not to miss them.
How to start the Fox Den quest in KCD 2
During the surprise attack of Eric's troops on the Jewish quarter in Kutna Hora, the mission "Exodus" managed to evacuate most of the civilian population to Kolin. Henry's comrades, who witnessed the bloody massacre, are not going to wait for Jost to arrive with his troops and take matters into their own hands. Thanks to Katerina, it became known that the "Finger of God" arquebus would soon be taken to Siedlce to Sigismund - a wonderful opportunity arose to intercept the cannon and balance the forces.
Walkthrough of the Fox Den quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Infiltrate Sigismund's camp and attempt to become General Katz's confidant. To do so, provide Sigismund's lost charter and thoroughly investigate Chertan's murder to ensure the foreign healer's defense at trial. Press charges against Grozav and defeat Katz after the ambush to obtain the "Head of the Hydra" trophy, as well as complete a number of secondary tasks available only as part of the story quest.
Consult with Zizka about next steps
Returning to the "Devil's Place" after the events in Kutna Hora, talking to Zizka can trigger a number of progress-dependent objectives:
- Talk to the Dry Devil's gang - to continue the main story campaign, you need to complete the quest "The Devil's Pack".
- Wait for Shmuel from Kolin - if you returned to the tavern immediately after the mission "Exodus", fast forward time until the next morning.
Additionally, it is recommended to talk to Ptachek in your free time and receive an expensive bow from him as a reward, and later, before heading to the camp to Katerina, take a secondary assignment from him. "As if in the old days"Please note that this mission will "burn out" at dusk.
Once all preparations are complete, start a conversation with Zizka in the "Devil's Place" and hold a meeting with the gang. During the conversation, show courage to increase your reputation with your allies:
- "We are very lucky."
- "We must strike back!"
- "Pan Yang is right."
- "What's the matter?"
- "We'll steal her" - 17 Thievery points are enough, otherwise choose the ambush option.
- "We must try."
- "Thank you, Shmuel."
- "I would be happy to!"
Go to the quest marker in the camp near Opatowiec, but do not enter the city - it is forbidden to be there.
Meet Katerina at the camp
During the day, Katerina won't talk to Indro, so fast-forward the time of day to night in advance. You'll find the girl sleeping in a tent behind the bathing area. Tell her that you've come on Zizka's behalf and agree to talk in a more private setting.
- "Zizka sent me."
- "How can I calm down when this happens?"
- "It's different with you" - 16 points of Speech is enough.
Ask the girl about everything that is happening in the camp and what to do next. Additionally, you can a difficult test of Eloquence "And a kiss for good luck?" and raise your reputation if successful.
Later, you can ask the girl for help and receive a temporary task "Persecutor", leading to strengthening the relationship within romantic line with Katerina.
Enlist in the army
Katerina told me that the best way to enlist in Sigismund's service would be to the Prague centurion Stepan Vorona. In conversation with him, try to medium-difficulty checks for Alchemy and Crafts, as well as very difficult ones for Theft and Combat. Use "I have no other talents" to proceed to the next stage of the quest.
Having become interested in Indro, Stepan will bring him to talk to the general of Prague - Dietrich Katz. He does not intend to take the man into service just like that, so he will immediately assign him to find the missing soldiers and the lost charter.
Help the wounded Mouse
Commander Katz gave very general information about the search area for the missing soldiers, but it can be narrowed down by questioning Mouse. Go talk to Musa to get permission from the chiropractor to talk to the wounded man and a hint about the necessary potion. To the check "Couldn't we wake him up for a little while?" 19 Alchemy points are enough.
You can bring a soldier to his senses for a short time with the help of a potion "Petushok" of strong quality and higher. Such a potion cannot be bought or found, it can only be brewed from the freshest ingredients, following the recipe exactly.
If you use dried herbs, invest a skill point in the Secret of Balance skill to remove the penalty for stale ingredients.
To prepare it you will need valerian and mint, you will find the alchemy table in Sigismund's camp right behind Musa's tent.
- Pour in the alcohol.
- Chop the mint ×2 and throw it into the pot.
- Place the cauldron on the fire and immediately count one revolution of the hourglass.
- Add a handful of valerian.
- Count two turns and lift the pot.
- Run the finished potion through a distiller.
Go to the military hospital next to the chiropractor's tent and find Mouse on the floor. Give the soldier a strong "Rooster" and, without wasting time on abstract topics, interrogate him about the missing squad:
- "I have something to talk to you about."
- "Where did your friends go?"
- "What happened to you?"
It turns out that the deserters are currently hiding in Stara Lhota, north of Maleshov.
Find the missing soldiers
Head to the quest marker in a small settlement where you need to inspect an abandoned mill. It's best to do this at night or early in the morning when the culprits are asleep. Go around the house on the right side and jump over the moat to get into the courtyard and see the Prague carriage.
Find the missing charter
Pick the light lock on the nearby door and climb the stairs to the barn attic. Climb across the beams to the other side to the soldiers.
To the right of the sleeping people you will find a painted chest with a medium-complexity lock, which contains the lost charter of King Sigismund, some money and a good saddle.
If you can't pick the lock, look in the pockets of sleeping people the key to the painted chest with a red thread. Alternatively, wait until morning and ask one of the soldiers for the key, using the dialogue options in the conversation:
- "I just need literacy."
- "Katz sent me here."
- "Give me the certificate and I will go on my way."
- "Go with God" - in exchange for silence and sparing his life, the warrior will allow the letter to be taken away.
Deal with the missing soldiers
Following the investigation, Commander Katz ordered that the soldiers be returned if they were in trouble and dealt with if they were found to have deserted. Therefore, if desired, one can fight the Prague warriors or turn a blind eye to the crime and lie to the leader.
Take the lost papers to the senior in the camp
Having obtained the letter, return to Sigismund's camp through Myshkovitsy and go to Dietrich's tent. To raise your reputation, report on the massacre of the escaped warriors:
- "About the soldiers and the missing letter."
- "I dealt with them."
- "Let's drink!"
- "I have no money".
If you win at dice against Katz, you will receive 600 groschen, otherwise you will lose 300.
Search the place where Chertan was stabbed
While Henry, Musa and Dietrich were enjoying themselves after a long day, Certan was attacked near the powder magazine. Since Commander Grozav will insist that Katz's men are guilty, Henry must conduct a thorough investigation. Report to the Commander "Our task is to hush everything up" and proceed to examine the crime scene.
First of all, examine the pool of blood, traces of which lead to the cart near the warehouse and the master key under it.
Go to the warehouse and examine the opened lock, and inside pay attention to the floor and the cannon.
To the northeast of the warehouse, near the outermost green tent, you will find a bloody bucket. Go into the same tent and pick the chest's complex lock to obtain the "IOU of the Lord of Borumlaka". Having studied the document, Indro will conclude that Grozav owes a large sum to the murdered Chertan.
Return to Dietrich and report all your findings, and later learn of Chertan's imminent death:
- "I've searched everywhere here."
- "I found out a lot of stuff" - immediately report all the evidence.
- (Keep silent).
- (Keep silent).
- "Protect Musa."
- (Keep silent).
- "We must help Musa."
- "You really don't know what to do?"
- "The soap lady will help us" - required to complete the task "Pursuer", which is only available at the current stage of the main story quest.
Completing the secondary task is also necessary to get the achievement "I had a chance to see it". Also keep in mind that the camp will soon disappear, so other tasks should be completed before summing up the investigation.
Investigate a murder
During the investigation of Chertan's murder, find enough incriminating evidence that can be used in court against the main suspect - Grozav or Stepan Vorona. Grozav's guilt will be indicated by the herbs for "Pupation" and the promissory note. Vorona, in turn, is the true culprit - a saboteur who tried to blow up the gunpowder warehouse in Sigismund's camp.
For achievements "The head of the hydra" must accuse and execute the commander of the nobles Grozava, and release Vorona.
Ask Katerina for help with the guards
To move forward in the investigation, you should first talk to Musa and get clues about the reasons for Chertan's death. To distract the guard from the chiropractor's tent, enlist the help of Katerina.
The girl will tell you that every night she is visited by an unknown Polovtsian, and will give you the task "Persecutor". Move away from the soapmaker's tent a few meters, for example, sit by the fire, and fast forward time ("T") to the interval from 2 to 3 am. If the Polovtsian notices Indro, he will immediately run away.
Dress in your best armor and catch Chakan peeping by starting a conversation. The man doesn't speak Czech, so just intimidate him, bribe him, or beat him in a fist fight. You can't kill the enemy, so don't use weapons.
Once you've dealt with the Polovtsian, ask Katerina for help again and go to Musa. While the girl distracts the soldier, ask the healer how to get to the criminal.
Examine Chertan's body
Go to the nearest tent and examine the body thoroughly, using all available dialogue options. The following symptoms will be revealed: convulsions, poppy-red skin, emptying.
Read a book about poisons
To the left of the table with the dead man, pick the light lock and get the book on poisons from the drawer. After reading it and comparing it with the symptoms, you will get an answer as to what poisoned Chertan: a potion "The kiss of death". Now you should return to Musa and tell him about the results of the examination. Additionally, you can inform the doctor "I am not the most ardent er of Sigismund" and improve your reputation.
Search the tents
Once you've determined that the murder was committed using the "Kiss of Death", search the prime suspects' tents for the ingredients for the potion.
Search Musa's tent
In the chiropractor's tent, examine the carpet and all three shelves with cups, jewelry, and potions. You won't find anything suspicious, so move on to searching the other suspects' tents.
Search Wojciech and Radovan's tent
Follow the path south to the outer tents of the camp. Examine the following items from Wojciech and Radovan:
- alcohol;
- bed;
- broom;
- contents of a chest with a light lock.
Search Stepan Vorona's tent
Through one tent, examine the objects near the sleeping place of the Prague centurion:
- oak firewood;
- a bowl of water;
- nails;
- stain under the armor stand.
The "Kiss of Death" is created from rose water, nails and oak bark.
Search Grozav's tent
In the central part of the camp, in Grozav's tent, find herbs next to the wine. The poison "Pupation" is prepared from valerian, which may be useful in court.
Prepare to defend Musa in court
Wait until morning and go to Katz and tell him you are ready for the hearing. that for the "Head of the Hydra" trophy Grozava needs to be killed, so use the evidence you have collected against him:
- (Keep silent).
- (Keep silent).
- "He was with us during the stabbing."
- "Mr. Grozav from Borumlaki."
- "Chertan caught Grozav stealing gunpowder" or "Grozav didn't want to pay Chertan his debts."
- "There was gunpowder scattered all over the warehouse" or "I found an IOU."
- "Grozav poisoned the wine before we arrived."
- (Mention the herbs found).
Kill Grozav, answer Dietrich "As you wish" and make final preparations before transporting the "Finger of God".
Leave the camp with Katz
Stop by the soap-makers, tell Katerina that the Praguers are leaving, so she can tell Zizka to prepare an ambush. Return to the main part of the camp to talk to Katz and tell him that we can go to Sedlec.
Kill the people of Prague
Immediately after the cutscene, Henry will find himself in the middle of a battle, surrounded by Praguers. Retreat towards the forest and start ing your allies from behind. For example, find the notable Kubenka with a bell-shaped hat in the crowd and always attack with him.
If you managed to successfully complete the battle, do not forget to talk to Katz and challenge him to a final duel. After killing the last of the three commanders, complete all the conditions of the achievement. Take the valuables from the fallen warriors and go talk to Zizka.
Next quest - "Dancing with the Devil".
Achievement Head of the Hydra
While in Sigismund's camp, witness Chertan's death, blame Grozav for it and let Stepan Vorona blow up the powder depot, and after the ambush, kill Dietrich Katz. Thus, fulfill the condition "All three commanders are dead and you dealt with the powder depot" and you can get achievement Hydra heads in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

I'm interested in one thing
At first there was talk about the kiss of death and all the evidence pointed to Vorona, and then suddenly to Grozava and the poison pupation. Is this a mistake of the developers of such a sudden change or is this about that very "hush up"?
They falsified the facts) The real culprit was Vorona, it was just more profitable for Henry to execute the enemy general.
This is not a mistake by the developers. You can talk to Raven (and also steal a note from his pockets with orders to blow up the gunpowder warehouse and rummage around in the chest with 1k groschen) and agree with him that Henry dumps everything on Grozav, and Raven blows up the warehouse. After all, they both work against Sigismund. Actually, that's what I did.
You also need to look at the carpet (on the floor). Then everything will be checked and the purpose of searching his tent will disappear.
Thank you, noted!
Musa's tent can be searched. There is a crooked interaction mark on the carpet, I managed to press "e" while crouching
Thank you! You pointed it out.
Thank you for the work you've done! Here's the most detailed walkthrough
