Dendro reactions in Genshin impact include Burning, Budding, Flowering, Vegetation, Catalysis (Stimulation), Growth and Aggravation. Various combinations (both direct and indirect) allow you to create even more variations of units built on a combination of elements.
However, the multi-stage principle of interaction with Dendro can be difficult to understand, especially for those who first encountered the elements. In the article, we will talk in detail about these reactions, analyze the main essence and show commands based on them.
Dendro reactions in Genshin Impact: general information
Although Dendro is mentioned multiple times in the story in Genshin Impact, his existence has been mostly hushed up. The only reaction associated with this element that was available before patch 3.0 is Combustion. The reaction is the imposition of a Pyro element on an opponent with a Dendro status, for example, slimes.
However, with the release of Sumeru, the number of possible interactions has increased several times. There have been reactions such as Catalysis (Stimulation), Burning, Budding, Growth, Aggravation, Vegetation and Flowering. All of them are tied to Dendro, Pyro, Electro and Hydro elements.
The principle of operation of Dendro reactions
Habitual elemental reactions such as Melt, Disperse, and Overdrive occur in two stages:
- The status of a certain element is imposed on the object.
- The second element is applied, which activates the reaction due to the previously applied aura.
The Dendro element is different in that it has multistage reaction principle. In other words, reactions based on Dendro elements (except for Combustion) already go through 2 stages, which consist of 3 steps:
- The status of the first element is imposed.
- The second element is applied, which creates first phase reaction. Arises new aura, which is necessary to activate subsequent elemental interactions (for example, the core from Budding).
- Lastly, the third element is applied, which causes a reaction third phase and deals major damage.
For ease of understanding, Dendro's reactions resemble the effect of Shattered (Shattered) during Freeze (Cryo + Hydro), when an enemy with this effect is damaged by a two-handed sword or a Geo element.
Dendro resonance
Like other elements, Dendro, if there are two or more characters of the same element in the squad, gives unique bonuses:
- +50 to mastery of the elements.
- If the effects are activated Burning, Stimulating and Budding all nearby allies gain +30 Elemental Mastery for 6 seconds.
- If reactions work Growth, Aggravation, Flowering and Vegetation all nearby allies receive an additional +20 damage. Elemental Mastery for 6 seconds.
Burning in Genshin Impact
Dendro
+ Pyro
= burning
Sets the target on fire, dealing minor Pyro damage every 0.25 sec. This elemental reaction can be extended indefinitely by reapplying the Dendro status to the enemy.
Burning characteristics:
- Burning is a separate status that interacts with other elements like Pyro Aura, but does not conflict with Pyro or Dendro.
- When other elements affect the Burning status, Pyro reacts first and only then Dendro.
- The Burning status can be canceled by applying Hydro attacks to the object.
- Burning deals periodic damage every 0,25 seconds, and in a small radius for every 8 pokes on the enemy, a Pyro status is applied. While Dendro's effect disappears after 1,74 seconds.
- Reaction damage depends on the characteristics of the character that deals the finishing blow.
Budding in Genshin Impact
Dendro
+ Hydro
= Budding
The effect of the Hydro element on an object with the Dendro status creates a bud that appears near the opponents. Bud explodes later 6 secondsif no other element is applied to it.
Only 5 seeds. When their lifetime ends or the 6th bud is created, the previous ones explode and deal AoE damage to Dendro. Reaction-created buds have the following effects:
- They only react with Pyro and Electro.
- Each core has a 6 second timer. If until this moment you do not act on the bud, this will lead to its explosion.
- No more than 5 cores can be present on the field.
- Buds can be moved using an anemo-element (for example, an elemental skill sucrose etc).
- All effects created by buds have internal recharge: Deals 2 damage every 0,5 seconds to an enemy.
- When the core explodes, a small part of the damage can be inflicted on the active character, so healers or shieldmen will be welcome in teams from this reaction.
Budding has the following characteristics:
- In this reaction Dendro status is stronger than Hydro status. This means that most often the Dendro status will be on the enemies, and characters with the Hydro element will close the reaction.
- Seeds cannot grow without the use of the third element: Pyro or Electro. Also, the explosion of the cores does not impose a status on Dendro enemies.
- One enemy can only take damage 2 times per reaction.
Gap
Dendro
+ Hydro
+ inactivity = break
If nothing not affect on Dendro core during 6 seconds or create more than 5 seeds, they explode and deal damage to Dendro to both nearby enemies and characters. Besides, enemy attacks can trigger a bud reaction that will also deal damage to allied heroes. The amount of damage dealt by the explosion depends on the performance of the characters that triggered the reaction (Hydro or Dendro).
Budding splits into two more reactions when interacting with Pyro и electro element.
Flowering
Dendro
+ Hydro
+ Pyro
= bloom
When the bud created by the reaction Budding, gets the status Pyro, it explodes and deals even more AoE damage to Dendro. Blossom, like Rupture, also deals damage to the character. But its amount is reduced and is about 5% of the damage to the enemy. As a result of the reaction, opponents are pushed back.
Bloom Characteristics:
- Increases damage from a core explosion by 1.5 times.
- Reaction damage depends on mastery of the elements the attacking Pyro character.
- The effect can be triggered by scattering a Pyro element onto a core.
vegetation
Dendro
+ Hydro
+ Electro
= Vegetation (Gives Crawling Projectile)
When Dendro core created Budding, reacts with electro, the bud turns into a Dendro projectile that attacks the nearest enemy. If an active character is causing the effect, they take no damage.
Vegetation Characteristics:
- Increases damage from a core explosion by 1.5 times.
- Damage depends on mastery of the elements attacking Electro character.
- It can even attack flying enemies.
- A reaction can be caused by dispelling the Electro element on a bud.
Catalysis (Stimulation) in Genshin Impact
Dendro
+ Electro
= Catalysis (Stimulation)
Summons an electrifying lightning bolt that lowers the target's resistance to the corresponding elements and also generates one particle of energy. The strength of this reaction depends on mastery of the elements the character making the attack.
Stimulation Features:
- Stimulation is completely independent aura, which exists separately from Electro and Dendro.
- When applying Dendro or Electro status again, the Stimulation duration updated.
- If an object under the Stimulation aura is applied Pyro or Hydro, it will react like Dendro in the form of Budding and Burning. These effects can override Stim status.
- Exacerbation (Dendro+Electro+Electro) and overgrowth (Dendro + Electro + Dendro) do not affect the Stimulation aura.
The stimulation itself lasts for 6-16 secondsunless interrupted by another reaction. It takes as a basis the weakest of the applied statuses and has its own decay rate. In the second formula, aura duration calculation, which is calculated from the Stimulation indicator:
Stimulation splits into two more reactions when interacting with Dendro и electro element.
overgrowth
Dendro
+ Electro
+ Dendro
= overgrowth
If on the enemy under the status Stimulation (Dendro+Electro) deal damage again Dendro element, the enemy will receive increased damage from this element by increasing the basic attack that caused the reaction. Damage depends on mastery of the elements character attacking Dendro.
Exacerbation
Dendro
+ Electro
+ Electro
= Aggravation
If on the opponent under the status Stimulation (Dendro+Electro) deal damage electro, he will receive increased damage from this element at the expense of a bonus to basic attack. Reaction damage increase based on mastery of the elements attacking Electro character.
Dendro's interaction with multiple elemental auras
In most cases, when several auras interact, the elements react with statuses in turn in accordance with priorities. Let's say Pyro applied to Electro+Hydro will result in Overload, and then possibly Evaporation. This will happen if enough Pyro is left after activating Overload and consuming Electro status.
This also works in reactions with Dendro. Let's take for example Cryo + Dendro, where it first reacts Cryo. In this case, Hydro applied to Cryo+Dendro will cause Freezing (reducing the status of Hydro) and then Budding, consuming the remaining Hydro and reducing Dendro's aura. Since less aura was removed from Dendro, this may allow you to get more buds.
Scaling and damage from various Dendro reactions: formulas and calculations
Next, we will analyze the dependence of Dendro interactions, taking into multipliers, bonuses from reactions, and what damage these reactions can cause.
Transformative reactions
Both Combustion and all interactions associated with Budding (Break, Bloom and Vegetation) are transformational reactions and are calculated using the standard formula:
Reaction multipliers:
- Burning - х0.25;
- Budding - х2;
- Flowering - х3;
- Vegetation - х3.
Additional reactions
Growth and Aggravate are used in the formula to calculate talent damage as base damage increases, similar to buffs Redhorn Stonethresher.
From this formula, we can conclude that reactions do benefit from increasing damage percentage и crits, if activated by triggering talents (any, except dispelling).
In the case of Anemo reactions, Escalation is added to blow damage after any dispel-specific reaction bonus:
Thus, the bonus damage from Grow and Aggravate is calculated using the following formula:
Elemental Mastery is not a snapshot in the calculation of additional reactions. This means that the damage of Stimulation reactions is based on the MC the character currently has.
Reaction multipliers: Aggravation - 1.15h; Growth - 1.25h.
Approximate base reaction scaling numbers (level multiplier x reaction multiplier) at character level 90:
- Combustion (Dendro + Pyro) - 361;
- Budding (Dendro + Hydro) - 2893;
- Flowering (Dendro + Hydro + Pyro) - 4340;
- vegetation (Dendro + Hydro + Electro) - 4340;
- Exacerbation (Dendro + Electro + Electro) - 1664;
- overgrowth (Dendro + Electro + Dendro) - 1808.
Commands Based on Dendro Reactions
Dendro units in Genshin Impact are based on interaction with electro, Hydro и Pyro. Considering that Dendro reactions are most often multilevel, such teams can include several elements at once, or concentrate on one thing.
Although there are no direct interactions with other elements, you should not completely exclude them, as they can perfectly complement an existing assembly. For example, Cryo characters allow you to generate more cores from the Budding reaction (Fridge effect), Geo - to create shields, and Anemo - to pull, control enemies and apply buffs to elemental mastery / elemental damage.
Squads via Stimulation
Stimulation (or Catalysis) builds emphasize interaction Dendro и electro. We remind you that this is a 1st order reaction, so the characters that are the main damage dealers should have not only elemental mastery, but also attack/crit power in their characteristics.

Squads through Budding
Teams Built on Collaboration Dendro и Hydro. Budding is a Tier 2 reaction where damage is solely affected by Elemental Mastery. Anemo characters will be a good addition to such assemblies. In addition to applying standard buffs, they can concentrate cores and enemies in one area, which will allow them to deal damage to all targets at once.

Squads through Vegetation
Compositions that are built on the reaction that occurs between Dendro, Hydro и electro. Unlike regular cores, this one spawns homing projectiles when Eletcro damage is dealt to them. Since this is an interaction based on Budding, the damage also depends only on elemental mastery.

Squads through Bloom
Squads are based on interaction Pyro, Hydro и Dendro elements. The emphasis in this case is on defeating a predominantly large group of enemies due to the instantaneous explosion of cores when using Pyro attacks on them.

Squads through Burning
Teams created from a combination Dendro и Pyro, are the least popular, because they are aimed at causing periodic damage. At the same time, the reaction must be constantly maintained by repeatedly imposing the Dendro status on enemies. Characters are also going into mastery of the elements.

and for the order through the growing season:
…, Fischl, Furina, Yao Yao
is it better electro main DD or hydro main DD?
Tignari/ororon/xing qiu/fischl ok?
Hi! Is Tignari, Xingqiu, Yao Yao and Kuki a normal build for Vegetation? What do you need to pump for them all first? MS or are other stats important? Is it possible to pump ONLY MS with attack power and nothing else (except recovery for Xingqiu?) What artifacts are suitable for each of them?
Furina-Raiden-Yao Yao-Kazuha
Kirara-Kuki-Nahida-Ayato
And in the dense forest set, the bonus of 2 pieces through buds does not give anything? There is also an increase in dendro damage, but now cutting resists from 4 pieces works, right?
