To start the Lost in the Sands quest, head to to the village of Aaru. Visit the main street of the settlement, where the shops are located. Among them you need to find a merchant's shop Boniface from Mondstadt. Talk to him and the task will appear in the list.
Walkthrough of Lost in the Sands in Genshin Impact
Follow the footsteps along the path followed by the archaeological team
To start the investigation, follow the path followed by the archaeological team. The first area is located right next to Statues of Dendro Archon.
From it, move to the right, into the gorge. Follow the path southto discover more tracks and a new area where the explorers ed. Keep moving forward and look for traces of the archaeological squad.

Talk to three people
At the camp, talk to three people to get as much information as possible about what happened.
First interlocutor stands right at the entrance to the "settlement". Hermit he will immediately make it clear that he fell here, advise you to get out of here as soon as possible and end the conversation.

Talk to the fourth person who is standing at a distance
Turn around and go down from the camp. On the left, at the entrance to an unknown tomb, there is another Hermit. This girl needs to talk. Her name is Jecht and she was hired by Tirzad: the mercenary tells what happened to the expedition.
Together with Jeht, return to the broken camp and talk to the others. The girl will explain the situation to all three, after which Tirzad will begin to complain that "the vile inhabitants of Mondstadt got to Sumeru and deceived him." The scientist wanted to refuse the help of his mercenaries and decided to ask the Traveler for help.
Travel with Tirzad to the surroundings of the ruins, where Jecht had previously met. Enter the cave and move deeper to talk to the Hermits. The company needs to somehow open the entrance to the ruins, and all hope remains only on the scientist. The man interacts with the mechanism and the gate opens.
Go forward along the corridor and continue reconnaissance
Entering the great tomb go forward along the corridor and continue reconnaissance. It is necessary to reach the opposite end of the bridge, where there are two statues.
Continue exploring
Continue exploring: to the right of the stairs there is a mechanism covered with sand.
Use Anemo character and apply Scatteringto remove the interference and turn on the device.
When you enter the "main" part of the ruins, in the center of the hall will appear original design: Scout. Together with Jecht and her father, defeat the enemy and continue the exploration. At the left bowl with fire there is a rich chest covered with sand: use Anemo on it to open it. On the right lies Tablet: sheep's head.
Go further down the corridor and activate another mechanism. The Fairy will guide the Traveler along the right path. Follow her further until you find yourself in a age with traps. Wait for them to throw out the fire and run.
At the end of the path, the fairy will stand on a pedestal, and next to it will appear regular chest.
The traveler will reach the tomb itself, which is located in the search area. When you enter the room, you will see original design: Shaper. Defeat her to gain access to rich chest and continue research.
How to solve the torch puzzle
In the far left corner you can find Dendroculus, and below it is a slab that needs to be activated: it's an elevator. It is he who will lower the Traveler to the lower floor.
In the lower room is 4 torches. 3 of them (marked in the screenshot above) can be ignited immediately, and the last one must activate with triyana seed.
The fourth torch is transparent. When the seed flies to him, cast Electro element (easy to do with Lisa) on a flying creature to release a Pulse of Truth. This will automatically "activate" the torch, after which you can light it.
When 4 torches light up, barriers will fall from the chest and cubic mechanism. Activate the device to open the gate, allowing you to go further.

Enter the new room to activate a cutscene. Tirzad will explain why he is so reluctant to move on and tell about his relative, who was engaged in a similar study. Tirzad and Jabrail will quarrel, and the scientist will lose consciousness.
Continue exploring the ruins with Jeht
While the Hermit and the scientist remained at a halt, continue exploring the ruins with Jeht. In the corner of the room is an elevator platform that must be activated in order to go up to the next floor.
Examine the strange device

Keep moving forward and open the gate
Use the platform-elevator again and go up to the top floor. To the right of the gate is the mechanism Plinth of Secret Rites, which must be activated using the Slab. Open the "door" and look for a way out further.
A fairy is already waiting in the corridor, which will show the right path. Go down the stairs and approach another age with traps.
Overcome obstacles and fight two scorpions. Take the chest from the monument with the fairy and move on. Around the corner there will be another mechanism that you need to carefully by or jump over the fire, and then defeat the two scorpions again.
Walk to the end and turn left to find yourself in a new corridor. Run past the trap and head straight into the room with the blue glow.
How to Solve Riddles with Primordial Luminaries and Replicator Stones
Take primeval luminary in the form of a floating triangle and place it on the platform located to the right of the age. The replicator stone will create a cage mechanism that will open the gate.
